One-way broadcasts tolerate a few seconds. Auctions, live commerce with real-time bidding, betting-style interaction and co-streaming need low or ultra-low latency, which costs more.
Push with RTMP or SRT from the encoder; play with HLS, FLV or WebRTC. The ingest point should be near the streamer, playback nodes near the viewers.
In-country delivery requires an ICP-filed domain. Without it, viewers are served from nearby regions with weaker stability.
Peak concurrent viewers and bitrate set the bandwidth. Transcoding, recording and moderation are billed on top.
| Playback protocol | Relative delay | Typical use |
|---|---|---|
| HLS | Highest | Large one-way broadcasts, widest device support |
| HTTP-FLV / low-latency HLS | Medium | Live commerce, gaming, shows |
| WebRTC | Lowest | Co-streaming, auctions, interactive classes |
Start from the delay your product can accept. If viewers only watch, HLS or FLV is enough. If they interact in real time, look at WebRTC.
